This blog is dedicated to our hometown, Somerset, Kentucky. Although we are known for lots of things, like Somernites Cruise, Master Musicians Festival, and Lake Cumberland. There are a few hidden gems that make up the heart of Somerset that you may or may not come across while visiting. So here are our top favorite things to do in Pulaski County, Kentucky.
Rent a boat or hang out on the lake at Lees Ford Marina
Lees ford offers a variety of wave runners, boats, and house boats. The marina has a wonderful gift shop and snack hut. Or head on up the hill to check out The Harbor for a delicious dinner. No better way to spend a fun filled day than in the sun with family and friends!
Pick up a coffee from the one and only, Baxters Coffee
Start your morning, afternoon, or evening with something from Baxters. From hot to cold, coffee to tea, they have something for you and something for me. Locally roasting for over 10 years!
Go shopping at our favorite boutique, Persnickety Jane
Persnickety has something for everyone. With their brand new location, amazing new mural, and fashion forward clothing you’ll be sure to fall in love!
Enjoy taste testing at both of our local wineries
Cave Hill Vineyard and Cedar Creek Winery both offer fantastic wines. Both wineries offer wine tasting and tours.
Visit Haney’s Appledale Farm
Whether it be a one time visit or a family tradition, you won’t regret this stop. Haney’s has over 450 acres to explore. You can enjoy picking from their 25 varieties of apples and 10 varieties of peaches, pears, and nectarines. Check out their gift shop and then stop inside for their famous apple pies or another sweet treat. They also have a fun play ground and games for the kids to enjoy.
Locate all of the murals
With our new Mayor and amazing local artist our town is quickly filling with color. The Carnegie Center located downtown is a beautiful place to start, the head over to the Chamber of Commerce building and a few other local businesses who have allowed local artists to create master pieces at their businesses.
