Kentucky Wedding Photographers / The Natural Arch couple session

I’m so stinking excited to be writing this blog post because I’ve long awaited this shoot. Although Kenzi won my insta story giveaway, Kenzi is my hair gal; she’s been making me red headed for almost 2 years now and I couldn’t be more thankful for someone helping me feel like me <3 It was nice to be on the other side of our service exchange for once! :) She also does hair and makeup for my clients sometimes, so you may have even met her yourself so you already know how sweet she is!

I remember one time sitting in her chair she said, “I knew I would never feel like myself until I met my husband.” and I got to meet him during this session! He is so nice and I can see why they are such a good match for each other. I definitely cannot imagine Kenzi without Jordan and I really enjoy hearing about him and their relationship when I’m sitting in her chair each month. They are two peas in a pod. They go together like peas and carrots :) I hope that shows through their photos. Enjoy!

Kentucky Wedding Photographer / The Burley Barn / Horse Cave, Kentucky Wedding

WOW! What a way to start the new year. On New Years Day, Ally and Brandon said, “I do” in this cute little barn. It was a gorgeous winter wonderland from top to bottom. They did so good on the decor. I really enjoyed getting to know Ally +Brandon throughout the day. I learned that romance isn’t really their thing, which makes them who they are. They compliment each other so well. Ally is so nice, welcoming, and a beautiful cowgirl. Brandon is funny, and calm at the same time. Neither one of them were nervous, they were ready to get the day started!

We ended up at Ally’s gorgeous parents home about 4 minutes away from the barn where the girls got dressed and ready for the big day. I’m glad it worked out that way because I got to capture Ally’s dog, Judge, as he first saw her through the glass door. Judge is very special in Ally’s life so I’m glad I at least got a shot of him.

Kentucky Wedding Photographers / Couple Session at Short Creek

Hanna and Josiah were so much fun because their connection was FIREWORKS. They came all the way from Florida to visit some family and have their photos made. I don’t think there was a second that we weren’t all giggling. They did every single silly thing I asked them to do and did it so well. AND IT WAS RAINING! They were troopers and didn’t complain once…even through the mud that got on Josiah’s pants. I hope you guys love their images as much as I loved shooting them.

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and as it’s New Years Eve, a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

So obviously we haven’t been blogging very much. What have we been up to? Well, it was a BUSY Christmas season with lots of in-studio shoots. Here is a master list of my favorite shots from my in-studio stuff. I really like shooting in-studio. It forces me to create a connection between my subjects and focus on them rather than the scenery or where we are at.

Kentucky Wedding Photographers / A surprise proposal

Allyson + Jacob

It was a gorgeous day on December 21st, 2019. I drove out to the special spot that Jacob’s late grandmother had shown him. A quiet peaceful nature preserve where she spent a lot of her time. There were roses spread on the deck, and photos from Allyson and Jacobs past hanging by ribbon. It was so romantic. Not to long after I arrived, along came Allyson’s family, as well as Jacobs and one very special guest; Allyson’s best friend from college that she hadn’t seen in about two years. They hid in the trees until Allyson and Jacob pulled up. I greeted them and the first words out of Allyson’s mouth was “this is weird” and I knew then she knew something was up. He led her to the deck, they looked at the photos together, and Jacob then got down on one knee.

SHE SAID YES!

Immediately there was a sigh of relief across Jacob’s face, he was SO nervous. Their friends and family came out and gave them both big hugs. There were few dry eyes and so many smiles. Jacob and Allyson have been together since high school; maybe even middle school. I had the pleasure of knowing them both throughout school and I am so happy they have decided to spend forever together. Congrats you two!!!

Wedding at The Magnolia Venue / Kentucky Wedding Photographers

Now that I’ve delivered Alex and Nathan’s wedding album, I think it’s long overdue for their wedding blog post. Two months past to be exact :) Happy 2 months of marriage, you two! Alex and Nathan are two SUPER cool people who you can’t help but love being around. Nathan lights up a room with his smile and Alex’s laid back vibes make you feel instantly comfortable.. we knew this day was going to be one of the best yet.

Everything went off without a hitch. The day was perfect! Thanks to Misty and her team at Simple Bliss Events. The girls were GORGEOUS in their beautiful burgundy dresses and the fellas were dapper in their navy suits. We LOVED Alex’s boho feel wedding dress. That shoulder detail is GORGEOUS and she looked stunning in it - it was made just for her and this day.

As Alex’s perfect vision came to life with beautiful touches of antique china and greenery the sun began to set over the breathtaking Great Smoky Mountains. As the night came to a close their family and friends gathered around the dance floor in a circle and took turns busting a move. With so many gorgeous details and perfect touches, their wedding was definitely one for the books.

Wedding at The Hitchin' Post / Kentucky Wedding Photographer / Sarah + Nathan

I normally have the best luck with rain but on Nathan and Sarah’s wedding day, you guys, it rained ALL. DAY. LONG. Thankfully there were a few moments, including when they had to walk into the ceremony site, that we were able to grab a few photos without becoming soaked. It is said however, that rain on your wedding day is good luck that the couple will last forever and ever. BUT let me be the first to tell you, that Nathan and Sarah don’t need luck. They are without a doubt, each others forevers.

One of the best parts of their wedding day, was getting to witness the relationships they have with their friends and family. Sarah and Nathan are pretty important to me and it was so important to them that their family was included in every aspect of their day. I know they both know all too well the importance of cherishing every moment we have with our loved ones. I love how Sarah gave Nathan’s parents a gift and Nathan gave Sarah’s parents a gift. Just being there in that moment, I could tell how incredibly proud each of their parents were and after hearing Nathan’s momma’s speech, how happy they are that these two found each other.

It was an absolute honor you two, thank you so much for having me as your wedding photographer.

PS. you guys totally inspired me to bring the country music back out. I listened to “country love songs” the whole time I edited your wedding. I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

Engagement Session at Red River Gorge / Kentucky Wedding Photographers

YOU GUYS, I CANNOT WAIT FOR JORDAN AND BROOKS WEDDING DAY! Next November cannot come soon enough! These two are so fun and so full of love for each other. I love how Brooks makes Jordan laugh just by being silly. We went to Red River Gorge for their engagement session, each of us making the two and half hour drive, and I have to say, it was well worth it! We stopped at all the good, easy accessible spots; including the Nada Tunnel (my favorite spot ever) and almost got ran over a few times but they were so patient with the traffic! I love this job more than anything, especially when I can make new friends like Jordan and Brooks. Thanks for hanging out with me guys!!!

Engagement Session at Rose Island Charlestown Indiana / Kentucky Wedding Photographer

I had so much fun with Cecilia and Chris at Rose Island. We hiked down this giant hill (I didn’t think I would ever make it back up) and walked through the mile long trail of where Rose Island once stood before it was flooded away in the early 1900’s. I enjoyed getting to learn all about how Cecilia and Chris met on a blind date in high school where they watched Pineapple Express and never looked back. Now, 8 years later, after moving to a whole new state.. Chris asked Cecilia to marry him at midnight on Christmas morning. HOW STINKING ROMANTIC. I can’t wait to be apart of their long awaited wedding day next October.
