Wedding at Mellwood Art Center Kentucky Wedding Photographer / Amber + Tanner

Ah, December 31st, 2018… the day Amber and Tanner joined as one in front of all of their friends and family and lead their guests into the New Year with a celebration of their love. When I first met Amber and Tanner in a little coffee shop in Bardstown, I knew instantly that they were going to be so fun. They told me about their vision for their tropical themed wedding day, and how Amber loved the beach. At their engagement session, they told me about how Amber used to longboard over to Tanner’s house down the street. During the toasts, I quickly realized that they have always been it for each other. They’ve always been there… they will always be there. It’s beautiful.

Amber chose to do a first look with Tanner and a first look with her father. When she met with Tanner, his jaw dropped. It was so cute. He grabbed her hands, appreciated her dress, and pulled her in to kiss her. She then surprised him with the storybook, “Goodnight Moon” which was their first dance song. I didn’t know it until it came on and then my heart melted into a puddle on the floor. If that surprise wasn’t enough, she also learned how to play Piano just to play Tanner a song on their wedding day right after their first dance.

It rained literally ALL DAY, not just a little rain, perhaps monsoon is a better word. We had dreamed of sunset portraits since we first spoke. Right after their first look, I peeped the pink sky through the glass bridge we were standing in. THE TINIEST HINT OF SUN WE HAD SEEN THE ENTIRE DAY! We ran to the window to capture that moment.

The reception was so fun! Everyone was dancing.. they served pasta and a lot of guests wore tropical colors so it really felt like we were somewhere warm and salty! They did have a little help from some friends… TROPICAL BIRDS! That was so unique, I saw so many people having so much fun with them. To ring in the new year, they did a little firework show right before they left. They are seriously so fun! You are missing out if you don’t know these two.

Their families were so welcoming and wonderful to be around. I couldn’t imagine a better way to end 2018 than surrounded by those people and one of the most incredible couples.

Wedding at Sawyer Hayes Community Center Kentucky Wedding Photographer / Kelsey + Parker

I sometimes leave wedding days, feeling so overwhelmed with gratitude that this is my job and just so thankful for people that I meet through this experience. Kelsey and Parker, and their families were nonetheless. I couldn’t stop smiling on the way home because it was truly the most amazing day. I have never been treated with such kindness and enthusiasm. I met Kelsey and Parker through Wedding Wire at the beginning of the year. We met up at their venue earlier in the year to check it out and find the best spots for photos. Kelsey and Parker are such a cool couple, they are so relaxed yet so put together. They care about the things that matter most, and I absolutely love that. During their first look, they read their vows to one another so that it could be for them. Parker was crying, Kelsey was crying… I was tearing up from afar… it was beautiful! I loved that they incorporated their mommas who now live 1500+ miles away from where they live now, into their ceremony. They each read a special little piece for their marriage.

Their wedding was held at Sawyer Hayes Community Center in Louisville.. which is such a cool little place at a community park surrounded by trails of trees and gorgeous fields. We were surprised of how hot is was in October but this day, the sun was my friend. It hid behind the clouds at all the right moments. The greenery on the tables, Kelsey’s dress and bouquet, the guys suit colors…. I love their style so much, everything was STUNNING! It was truly the best day. I wish I could relive this day 1000x over every weekend.

Engagement Session at The Falls of Ohio Louisville Kentucky Wedding Photographer / Tanner + Amber Engagement

You guys, these two are so stinking cute! Growing up, they lived down the street from each other. Tanner taught Amber how to longboard and she used to skate down the street to his house. They both loooove the beach so it only made sense that they are planning a *drum roll* tropical themed New Year's Eve wedding in Louisville! I cannot think of a better way to ring in the new year than with these two amazing souls and their friends and family. 

It was the best day exploring the world over the Ohio River. We started at the waterfront by the Falls of Ohio State Park. Tanner and Amber shared an ice cream from the Widow's Walk Ice creamery... we learned that Tanner likes the ice cream and Amber likes the cone. A perfect match :) We then drove up to the walking bridge... and it was the most insanely beautiful sky. It was so blue, but there was a super thick cloud right over the setting sun. Everything was hazy, but so vibrant. It was such a gorgeous day, the only day of the week in Louisville that it didn't rain! We finished up on the rocks at the Falls of Ohio. The water level was SUPER low that day... Amber had looked it up, so it was perfect to walk out on the rocks and find their reflections in the puddles. 

I hope you guys love this preview, as much as I loved this entire day (minus the speeding ticket I got on the way home) haha! 

p.s. I have to use this song, because we heard it at the ice cream place and now I have heard it like 10 other times, and never before in my life (the Weezer version, that is). Also Amber and Tanner really like Weezer :)
