Kentucky Photographer / Class of 2022 Senior Ambassador - Sara Grace

I’ve gotten the chance to work with Sara Grace not once but three times now prior to her own senior session and each time has been the most pleasant time. She is so sweet and has such a natural, effortless beauty. I am so honored to say that she is on my class of 2022 senior ambassador team and I know she is going to represent Studio 606 so well this year!

We had her senior session planned to a T, but the storm that came in the first half of her session really turned the evening around. The sunflower field we had placed our bets on, had been took down by the strong winds! Such a bummer! But we made a last minute decision to swing by a field and out came the sun during the rain and it was magic! We also got to visit the dock where Sara Grace spends her summers so it worked out perfectly!

Sara, I am so excited to follow you along your journey of senior year and I hope it is the best year yet!

Kentucky Senior Photographer / Sunset Senior Session / Mallorri

Ooooo if only every senior session could have this gorgeous kind of light. We totally lucked out - so we were originally going to shoot Mallorri’s portraits somewhere else but that place ended up being CLOSED at 6pm — Who knew? So we resulted to driving around to random spots and taking photos. It actually worked out pretty well, we just chased the sun. If only I could have been half as pretty as Mallorri is when I was a senior, life would be GRAND! It was so fun to hang out with you gorgeous Mal! :)

Kentucky Senior Photographer / Senior session at Cave Hill Vineyard / Studio 606 Senior Experience / Wayne County High School Senior Photographer / Donna C.

Donna is a doll and an amazing senior who enjoys shooting guns for sport. HOW COOL IS THAT! We had so much fun exploring Cave Hill Vineyard for her senior session. Donna brought her best friend, boyfriend and momma and boy, that made things so easy! They were there for anything she needed. Donna loves ducks so when we saw the ducks hanging out by the pond, we raced over there only to have them hop back in the water but left their baby ducklings! We tried to snap a few photos with them but the momma kept being sketchy (I can’t say I blame her, I mean who were these strangers?)

Donna you are gorgeous and so good at makeup! I wish I had your skills. I can’t wait to see what all senior year brings for you! :)

Kentucky Senior Photographer / Fourth of July Senior Session at Conley Bottom / Studio 606 VIP Experience

THESE GIRLS, you guys. ARE AMAZING! I am so lucky to have them ALL on my senior team and am so lucky that they hopped on board with my last minute idea of a 4th of July themed shoot. So, these are my current VIP Seniors, and Senior Ambassadors. If you’re interested in becoming one, I can give you more info if you fill out the form here. The deadline to become a VIP senior is July 15th (only a few days away!!!!)

My point with creating the VIP senior experience is so that my seniors can be involved. I know they are so busy with school, extra circulars, jobs…. so I definitely didn’t want this to be a thing that they had to dread or even worry about. I wanted to create a little support family to which they can come to at any point of the year if they need help, need to have fun or just need to escape the stress of senior year. We have 2 additional senior group shoots planned, one is coming up soon and WHOOP WHOOP, my expectations are so high after this shoot! We are a family, and a lot of them are from different schools, have never met and I think they bonded SO well this first shoot and I AM SO STOKED to see where this year takes us all. I love that they are making new friends in this process, because that’s what it’s all about! :)

So, a special thanks to Kaitlyn’s (WCHS Senior Ambassador) aunt for letting us use her beautiful houseboat and boat. It was very nice protection from the monsoon that intruded our sunny day but at about the last 5 minutes of the rain, we all decided we wanted to be brave and shoot in it! I am so happy we did, because they danced in the rain. They loved it. I loved that they were having so much fun despite our unfortunate weather. The sun came back out and we ended with golden hour on a powerful note :)

TEST SHOT TUESDAY: Kentucky Editorial Photographer / Shooting with Mekaela for 5 years

When I finally get to see Mekaela after months and months of talking about this, I was so excited! Mekaela came to me with this idea of wanting to hang photos from a tree of all of the people who made her who she is today. Now graduating college, it was the perfect opportunity for this to happen! I have been photographing Mekaela since before she was a high school senior. She was one of my very first clients and on our first shoot together, I remember leaving my SD card at home while we were on location. Mekaela’s mom had dropped her off with me so she had to ride with me back to my house. I am so happy those struggling 17/18 year old days are far behind me! I didn’t realize it at the time we were doing this shoot but the vibe is SO similar to our first shoot. I will add a few of those at the bottom if anyone is curious to see! To be honest, if it weren’t for that shoot, I probably would not even be in this field now. That shoot single handedly pushed me down the deep rabbit hole of photography magic. I fell in LOVE with light and whimsy.

As I said before, Mekaela is graduating college and is going to be a social worker! We drove down her childhood road until we found the most perfect clover field to match her tee. I am so honored to know Mekaela, her big heart, and to have watched her grow over the last 5 years. Thanks for being a major part of my story, Mekaela! :)

Kentucky Senior Photographer / Bookstore Winter Senior Session / Sheradyn C.

I feel like I start every blog by saying that we had to reschedule a million times, but boy with this Kentucky winter weather it’s so hard to plan for! I feel like it has rained for the past three months. I can’t complain too much because I absolutely love the rain and would love to live somewhere where it only rains, but for photography session purposes… rain is not our friend! This was Sheradyn’s third session with me as she’s one of my seasonal seniors! It’s always a good time with Sheradyn and her momma. We visited the bookstore that she goes to with her Nana and the coffee shop right down the street. We walked around Boone Tavern, and even went back to the little motel on the hill where the walls were covered with Berea art. I absolutely love the art appreciation in Berea.

Kentucky Senior Photographer / Senior Session at Mill Springs Mill / Class of 2019 - Sydney A.

I loved exploring Mill Springs Mill with Sydney and her momma. You can tell Sydney takes after her momma in the personality department because they are both SO stinking hilarious and fun! I love when we can spend entire sessions laughing and checking out all the pretty places in the pretty light. Sydney rocked that fall style too, even though Kentucky has decided to skip Fall this year thus far! Sydney’s momma actually grew up in Monticello, and really loved spending time in the area we finished Sydney’s session at when she was younger so I LOVE that we were able to incorporate that.

I hope you have been loving keeping up with my class of 2019! Sydney is a BABE and I cannot wait to see all the things she accomplishes after graduation!

Senior Session at Holly Bay / Kentucky Senior Photographer / Hollie C. Class of 2019

Ok, I know I say every person always kills their session... but honestly, they do. I have the best, most cooperative, most fun, most amazing, clients EVER. Thank you guys for being so awesome. Hollie's senior session exceeded my expectations. She's so sweet, and we had so much fun walking and driving around Holly Bay with her and her momma. I absolutely ADORED Hollie's first outfit. I kept telling her that she looked like Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Her skirt was so flowy and such a pretty blue color which matched the scene perfectly! Not to mention her super cute hair. I love that she did a waterfall braid with flowers. It was so delicate! 

Hollie is an amazing senior, who plans to go to UK after graduation. I know she is going to do amazing things. I cannot wait until her Spring session, where I will get to see a little more about what Hollie is passionate about, which is dance! She dances at the same studio her momma danced at. I love when we are able to incorporate those small little details into a session.

Senior Session at The University of Kentucky Arboretum / Rachel D. / Kentucky Senior Photographer

I love love love working with Rachel and her momma. They are so sweet and so understanding of WEATHER. We scheduled Rachel's session about two weeks ago, we both checked the weather all day, we drive to Lexington to meet at the arboretum and BAM, as soon as we get there, a major storm rolls in! So we decided to go home and reschedule. Well, we picked a day, followed the same pattern, we get to the arboretum and it is looking CLOUDY. Thankfully we got two outfits finished before the down pour came! We're going to finish her session today actually with her cap and gown! 

Another story, so Rachel brought her cap and gown to this session and it had a white medal hanging on the hanger. We get deep into the arboretum and Rachel says, "ummm my white medal is missing! We must have left it in the restroom." So Stephanie, Rachel's momma back-traces all of our steps. She even goes to the car and looks. After not finding it anywhere, Rachel suggests that maybe she left it at home. We kind of gave up on looking for it then, because it was pouring and we were headed towards the car. For some reason we paused about halfway and was talking about the arboretums lost and found. AS SOON AS WE SAY THAT, I SEE THE MEDAL HANGING ON A RANDOM POST!!!! Right there, in the middle of nothing. Someone must have found it on the ground and picked up! Thank goodness!!!!
